Lion’s Mane Stage
Friday 1st July
With ‘music that is instantly recognisable’ (Emerging Indie Bands), Flight Brigade ‘is a rare talent that calls to mind early Arcade Fire’ (God Is In The TV). One of Kings of A&R’s recent ‘Buzz Artist’s, New Sick Music said they were ‘on a warpath to making history… a bit of Muse, compared to My Morning Jacket, but ultimately what we hear is a dark, orchestral, and narrative-driven tour de force’. The 7-piece’s sound certainly ‘packs a big punch’ and ‘they are gaining momentum’ (Music News) which makes their future bright.
The geographical proximity of the band members’ upbringing belied a wide span of musical tastes, which have molded into the unique sound of Flight Brigade. It is passion that drives the band. “There’s a charged atmosphere when we perform and it’s that vitality we try to capture when we record and even when we rehearse.” The band’s compelling live performance ‘sweeps up a maelstrom of infectious energy’ (Now Then Magazine, Live Review). Their dynamism has taken them across the country, playing 16 festival dates in 2015 including Bestival and three gigs at Glastonbury (one of Supajam’s highlights of the festival), opening for Primal Scream and Maximo Park at the Blissfield and Hop Farm festivals and supporting the likes of Grouplove, Dry The River, The Dunwells and Turin Brakes. What keeps them going is the joy of playing together and performing live. The band were described as ‘phenomenal’, ‘astounding’ and ‘breathtaking’ at their Great Escape showcase this past May.
High praise has followed, with support from 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson, BBC Introducing’s Gary Crowley and Phil Jackson, Bob Harris & BBC Radio 2 DJ Janice Long describing them as ‘astonishing’ and Tom Allen from Canada’s National Radio hailing their ‘infectious mix’ of ‘youth, hope and nostalgia’.
The band release their new EP, “Stealing Fire” on the 23rd October to coincide with their UK Autumn tour. Tracks were mixed by Donald Clark (The Knife, Muse) in London and Brian Virtue (30 Seconds to Mars, Jane’s Addiction, Deftones) with multi-Grammy nominated Mandy Parnell at the mastering controls. The band’s debut album, with tracks co- produced by Gavin Monaghan (Editors, Kings of Leon, Robert Plant), will be out early 2016.
Signals are a mathpop band that combine infectious pop music with jazz and indie overtones. As one of the UK’s most forward thinking acts,
Signals. are pushing the boundaries of commercial music and putting their stamp on the unsigned scene.
After releasing their first two EPs the band have played three major festival Main Stages (IOW Festival 2012, Bestival 2013 and Larmer Tree 2015) as well as having extensive airplay and a live set on BBC Introducing South, resulting in a strong and loyal fan base. Since then the band have successfully released the single “Sleep Talk”, toured the UK and made the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Longlist 2015.
Currently working on their new split single release of “Lungs Apart” and “Paresthesia”, corresponding videos and a tour, Signals. are driving forward their music with a live show to match. Expect lots of harmonies, shouty bits, pedal board antics, and time travel.
‘Great melodies, interesting song structures, strong vocals and most importantly a cracking stage presence.’ – Rob Da Bank (Radio 6 DJ & Bestival curator)
The Son (Symptoms Of Now) are a high energy rock band from the south of England that formed in 2012 when Sav Avvakoumides Jnr met engineer-producer Joshua J Macrae (The Cross/Queen/Pulp/Foo Fighters). With Songs Sav had written he went to work finding the right musicians to form a band…. The players were found and as they say the rest is history. The Son is busy recording their third album which will be available in summer 2016
“here come The Son, Dirty rock ‘n rollers from Surrey and are the sort of band who ooze 70’s rock. Cut them they would bleed a blend of vinyl, alcohol and unsavory substances, Seriously terrific ballsy anthems that burst out of the speakers propelling the listener along with their heady exuberance. These guys can really write and exude huge potential! Here comes The Son and I say….. They’re all right 4/5” Gary Bushell Street Sounds (August 2015)
The Ebony Tower was formed in 1996 to perform original material composed by Wilson Mcqueen. The band is working on its fifth album.Having played many clubs and festivals over the years, there has been a hiatus for a two years whilst material has been collated .Now ready to fire up again the Ebony Tower is loaded with guns set to stun. This is rock music as you imagined it should be but is rarely delivered these days. The band is an explosive mixture of sinewy vocals ,haunting violin, visceral guitar and dangerous drumming. The songs are influenced as much by Lewis carol as led Zepplin, with unusual time signatures and extended chord progressions without ever failing to “Rock”.In todays era of one trick pony bands Ebony Tower refuses to be stuck in one genre or sound making 90 degree turns from growling metal to ballads ,sometimes in the same song.

From The Jam
We’re delighted to announce From The Jam have added Haslemere Fringe 2016 to their “The Public Gets What The Public Wants” Tour.

Coco and the Butterfields
Colourful, energetic & crowd-stomping, CoCo and the Butterfields express the intimate vibrancy of a village folk fair with powerful vocal melodies and an undercurrent of driving beatbox to deliver catchy songs resonating in a stadium-filling urban pop vibe.
The Canterbury band of buskers have quickly established themselves as one of the most phenomenal live shows in the UK, earning critical acclaim for incendiary performances at Glastonbury, Isle of Wight and Camp Bestival and supporting internationally acclaimed artists Bastille, King Charles and Wheatus.
Stacking up an impressive 500,000 YouTube hits, and 15K Facebook fans the band marched into the limelight when their Warriors single was featured by Steve Lamacq on BBC 6Music and was independently released at a 1,200 capacity sell-out show.
With members hailing from Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Malaysia, Spain and the UK, *LAKUTA* is a truly global mix of musicians who draw on influences from jazz, funk, soul and world music.
The 10-piece ensemble reference a wide range of genres in their writing, on a musical journey which blends traditional instruments with a modern sound.
Tanzanian/ Kenyan vocalist Siggi Mwasote has generated her own unique lyrical style, giving a fresh funk-soul twist to the traditional African aesthetic. Many of the lyrics are written in a mixture of Swahili and English and the unique female-led perspective is communicated passionately through the music. This is particularly reflected in their song Yansan, written about the fate of women and children in Charles Taylor’s Liberia.
The word LAKUTA is derived from Siggi’s mother tongue of Swahili and can be translated as a number of things: as a noun, it translates as ‘the walls,’ as a verb, it translates as ‘to find, meet, share or feel full’.
Charley Farley Sunday Four
This is what the Farleys have to say about themselves…. The Farleys are a family band – all brothers – and all the songs they play have been written by their mother – Ma Farley – over the last hundred or more years. She’s a remarkably well lived woman due to vitamins, prayer, and a voracious sexual appetite.
The Bayonettes are a powerful guitar driven indie rock and roll band from Portsmouth, England.
With an unstoppable rhythm section, edgy vocals and driving guitars they have a heavyweight modern sound with a hint of 90s Britpop for good measure.
Since 2013 they have toured extensively playing at venues, festivals and radio stations across the UK and are striving to take themselves and their music to the next level.
In conjunction with their live shows they have released two EPs, the second of which gained plenty of airtime at home and abroad receiving compliments from far and wide, even being compared to Oasis by the Head of Music at Absolute Radio.
All of this is accompanied by a refreshing air of confidence and a bunch of down to earth, hard working individuals who see themselves doing something special together that they want to share with anyone who wants to be a part of it with them.
Rachel Rose is a singer/songwriter who is all about music, people, and connecting. Her mix of sounds is hybrid, characterised by a fusion of pop, soul, and r & b, which on “It’s Time” has metamorphosed into an up-tempo, blues, funk, soul vibe, guaranteed to make you dance your way out of heartbreak. Her powerful vocals and haunting Celtic vibrato have been described as ‘astounding’, ‘beautiful’ and ‘inspirational’, and have taken her to iconic venues in the UK and abroad, including Ronnie Scott’s, The Half Moon Putney, the O2, Hammersmith Apollo, Wembley Arena, Glastonbury, supporting Ray Quinn on tour and an array of private locations. (At her cousin’s wedding she even snuck in a rendition of Son of A Preacher Man in Clint Eastwood’s Mission Ranch piano bar, California.) Solo act and team player Rachel Rose loves forging great musical colaborations with a wide range of performers and producers – seasoned stars and emerging talent alike.

Striking a fine balance between exciting arrangements and fiery solos, Redtenbacher’s Funkestra never fails to delight with their feel-good, high-energy and original hybrid of funk, soul and jazz.

Building on the momentum from the “All at Once” EP, Passport to Stockholm return with a new set of 4, revealing a wider sonic palette and growing confidence. The band were forced into an extended break, allowing Mariona to recover from a long stint in hospital; the songs very much reflect a band energised by being reunited, making music that’s true to them. The stripped back nature of “Better Days” gives way to heavy synth injections elsewhere in the E.P. ; evidence of the influence legendary DJ Mauro Picotto had on sounds, after a soon to be released collaboration on tracks with the band.
The EP has been produced and mixed by long term collaborator Gordon Mills jr (Ed Sheeran, Lucy Spraggan, Mark Morriss, 1D), with contributions from Athlete’s Carey Willets
Passport To Stockholm have had great support from BBC Introducing (17 plays), 6Music, Amazing Radio (C listed as double audition poll winners) and more. water-shed formed in 2004 on the back of solo festival performances at the very first Haslemere Festival. They’ve gone on to develop their own unique blend of funky, melodic “folk and roll” and have developed a firm festival following, releasing their follow up album to mark their 10th anniversary – Coupons For The Moon – in 2014.
Indie Music Habit says: “water-shed is a refreshing answer to modern folk music. Where most new folk artists are losing sight of its traditions, water-shed keeps it intact while bringing an edgy, southern rock influence to the table to make for a unique yet familiar sound that brightens the day and eases the mind.”

Mack Hofberg knows neither how to sing, nor to play guitar. Yet does both beautifully. Completely throwing out the rule book on the standard Acoustic Singer/Songwriter, Mack’s music combines folk and pop, whilst his lyrics convey poetry beyond the depth of most ordinary 18 year olds.
Mack is just 18 years old. After gigging for just over 2 years, he’s had the honour of performing at many established venues notably The Joiners in Southampton (voted NME’s best small venue of 2013), The Bedford in Balham and The Railway in Winchester. Though one his crowning achievements was to have been picked as one of 2000 entries to perform in the Lord Mayors Busking Competition for Boris Johnson, where he played at The O2 and Westfield Shepards Bush. Moreover after submitting one of his tracks to BBC Introducing he was aired on BBC Radio 3 and has been interviewed on local radio at Southampton’s own Voice FM. All this and he’s only been old enough to buy a beer for a few months.
If you can’t afford Ben Howard, this will do nicely
— Paul Simms (Mo Films, Head of Music)
To make it in this business you have to be hungry, Mack is voracious
— Tony Moore (Cutting Crew/Iron Maiden/Musical Director at The Bedford)
I’d happily give’em a tour

I’m 16 in April and a singer songwriter from Haslemere. Also, I play guitar and I have a YouTube channel. My main influences are: Lianne La Havas, Jake Bugg, Ed Sheeran and Wolf Alice.

We Love Shows
The fabulous Kal Lavelle brings her unique “We Love Shows” experience to headline the Marquee stage.
Born and raised in the North East of England, son to a South American political exile, Antonio Lulic is a singer-songwriter whose deep vocals, combined with a powerful lyrical style, deliver a passionate and uplifting performance.
Since the release of his debut EP Antonio has toured with his band relentlessly; around the UK, in Europe and Australia, as well as opening for international star Ed Sheeran on his sold-out tours of Britain, the USA and across South America to enraptured audiences. Lulic has been featured on London Live TV, the highly regarded Daytrotter online sessions, and has performed at major festivals, including four acclaimed shows at the prestigious SXSW Music Festival in Texas.
His latest EP “Son” was released in Spring 2015, hitting #12 in the iTunes UK chart. Drawing comparisons from early Springsteen to Mumford and Sons, it highlights a shift in style, moving from the intimacy of a mature singer-songwriter to the sound of foot-stomping arena-filling anthems.
- “Wonderful” – Clare Balding, BBC Radio 2
- “A simply incredible songwriter” – Tom Coxhead, BBC Radio 1
- “Lulic delivers at the highest level” – R2 Magazine
Cat Bear Tree
Enthused by the trail-blazing women forming brilliant bands such as The Donnas, L7 and Elastica, the three members of Cat Bear Tree spent their teenage years sneaking into London gigs and sourcing inspiration from the capitals more independently inclined music scenes. It was this punk-rock spirit that first bonded Zoe Konez (guitar and vocals), and Sarah Smith (drums and vocals), two fearless players who have been cutting their teeth on the DIY circuit.
Having joined forces it was clear that Cat Bear Tree were a forceful prospect, their infectious indie hooks and open-book lyrics soon earning plaudits on both the blogosphere and stage, where key shows included supports to Mike Skinner and The Tuts. Debut EP “Lets Share Hearts” was an early statement of intent, earning the group comparisons to the likes of Electrelane and Sleater-Kinney, but it is new release “Settled In Our Hearts” that captures the true qualities of Cat Bear Tree and will stand as their launchpad to broad acclaim, for, as the band admit: “Weve pushed ourselves further out”. This EP sounds like us, now, and we cant wait for wait for connect with it
Rhiannon Mair is a talented singer/songwriter who can play her own back up drums and produce her own album.
Rhiannon has released two Crowd Funded records, a hit single in Austria’s Top 10 Charts and toured up and down the UK and Germany. Along the way she’s appeared on BBC Radio 2 and received support from BBC Introducing Counties.
Besides recording and producing in her own studio, Rhiannon recently performed with Antonio Lulic as a drummer for his recent UK tour and supported Kimberley Anne on her pop-up tour around the UK.
Rhiannon has always been strongly influenced by the eclectic mix of rock and folk music she’s been hearing since she was just a lil’ thing in her momma’s womb. She grew up on a diet of Bonnie Raitt, Dave Le Roth and the Indigo Girls but it was KT Tunstall and Alanis Morrisette who caught her attention and influenced her unique style.
Rhiannon’s songs tell a story of some point in her life and every track is dripping with meaning. It’s easy to apply her lyrics to your own life; whether it’s an unrequited love in “Why Can’t I Be Your Girlfriend” or that b**** who screwed you over in “Love and Hate”, Rhiannon seems to know what you’ve been through and has the song to help you work through it.
Rhiannon is currently hard at work on a new EP; recording and producing an independent release from the comfort of her own dining room.
Look out for Rhiannon’s new EP
Mesmerising, mysterious and carrying a bold femininity in her style and sound – Stephanie O is a singer-songwriter and musician from London.
Known to fans as Stephanie O or by her full name Stephanie O’Brien – she came to the music scene in her teens as founding member of Universal signed pop-harmony band The Puppini Sisters; before leaving several years later with a drive to strike out on her own.
Having worked alongside artists such as Michael Buble, Carole King, Cindy Lauper and toured all over the world; her eclectic influences and experiences percolate her music. But like her heroes, whom include Jeff Buckley and Portishead, Stephanie O can’t be pigeon holed. Her two years spent away from the swing-pop machine have seen her develop a new style akin to a certain wave of multi instrumentalists captivating audiences right now such as Lo-Fang and Jack Garratt – developing an edge, grit and independence that resonates through her new music.
Her live shows see her combine electric guitar, percussion and electronic flourishes with symphonic soundscapes created on her violin and layered vocal harmonies. It is a unique method of live looping – instinctive and spontaneous that has seen this new artist rise to our attention.
Her debut Leave Your Heart at the Door EP came out on indie label Loop the Loop in the winter of 2014, ahead of a flourish of festivals and gigs across the UK and hometown of London – which saw her performing alongside Jack Garratt, MØ and Kimberly Anne.
With a steadily growing fan-base, her melancholic-electronica caught the attention of producers Dennis White (ThermalBear) and Tom Cameron (Arrows Down), resulting in a huge departure from the Lo-Fi, intimate tone of her first studio recording, to something much heavier and commanding.
Alive EP is out now on Loop the Loop Records
‘clearly a man with poetry in his soul’ – Tom Robinson, BBC6 Music
‘Very, very beautiful’ – Chris Hawkins, BBC6 Music
This past year, Russell has toured with Kimberly Anne (No.4 in the UK for her vocal performance on Sam Feldt’s ‘Show me Love’), supported Leddra Chapman (playlisted 5 times by Radio 2), and busked across the UK and Germany ahead of a European tour, and his debut record release in 2016.
Calling on the classic grooves of James Bay, the storytelling of Tracey Chapman, and the gorgeous ambience of Howling, Russell’s sound is brooding, confessional, indie. Stories driven by sensual imagery & sticky melodies, powered by rich tenor vocals & driven guitars
Kal Lavelle’s EP ‘Shivers’ went Top 5 in the iTunes ‘Singer Songwriter’ Chart, and the single was named iTunes ‘Single Of The Week’ in the UK (downloaded more than 60,000 times!).
