As a 100% volunteer led event, the Haslemere Fringe Festival has always had its roots in helping our local community and supporting other worthy causes.   We’re delighted to announce our main partner charity for the 2016 Fringe Festival is Dreams Come True!

Dreams Come True! is a national UK charity that works hard to make dreams come true for children and young people with serious and life-limiting conditions aged between 2 and 21 years old.

Fulfilling a dream can help a child or young person to think beyond their illness or disability and focus on something highly positive and empowering. The experience can create amazing memories for entire families and our friendly and knowledgeable team are there to help every step of the way.

Hannah’s dream was realised recently:

20 year old Hannah has cancer and continues to be monitored regularly.  Her dream was to go to the Proms.

The Royal Albert Hall were superb in helping to make Hannah’s dream that extra special.

Hannah wrote “When we got to our box we had complimentary refreshments laid out for us, and three programmes as well. The box was in a great position, just in front of the side of the stage. This meant that we could see the faces of both the conductor and the performers. I had brought my binoculars as I thought that we might not be able to see that well, but they weren’t really needed! The experience of having a box was extraordinary. It was lovely to be by ourselves, and have our own little place to talk about the concert in the interval. I’m not sure I’ll be able to go back to sitting in the choir seats at concerts now!

DSC00680The concert itself was fantastic. The singers were amazing, especially on the high notes that they had to do. The orchestra was, as always, incredible, getting loads of applause at the end when each section stood up individually. Sometimes I couldn’t quite believe that I was in the same room as John Wilson and he was actually conducting! They did an encore – “America” from West Side Story, which I have now got in my head and can’t seem to get rid of it! (Not that I really want to!) I didn’t want it to end -when we came out, I was running round taking pictures trying to delay our journey home as I didn’t want to leave.

Thank you for all you did, you made one girl very, very happy last night!”

Hannah’s Dad added “When Hannah chose this dream back in April/May she was so poorly we wondered if she would be here to enjoy it, so to see her so full of excitement and energy was wonderful.”

Little Lumpy is a long running charitable bike race that demonstrates the Haslemere Fringe Festival and Haslemere Festival’s roots in our local community.

It is a ‘not-for-profit’ event, with monies raised being distributed between Haslemere Festival and an elected partner charity.  The 2016 partner charity is the Haslemere Citizens Advice Centre.

Now in its 8th year, Little Lumpy offers you the chance to experience the charms and challenges of the proven designated routes. Setting off again from Haslemere, we take you through the prettiest parts of the Sussex and Hampshire Weald to the South Downs at South Harting where the Challenge and Epic routes branch off to take you over some testing little climbs.   Why not find out more and sign up here:

As in previous years, you will be able to enjoy the warm welcome and home baked cakes at the feeding stations around the course. This added attraction is only possible with the dedicated group of volunteers whose efforts seem to have become legendary with the tempting selection probably the best to be found at any Cycling Sportive throughout the country.

For those less local, we have arranged special rates for cyclists at the Georgian House Hotel, ring01428 656644 quoting Little Lumpy. Accommodation rates for cyclists at other hotels are to be confirmed, so please do follow us on Facebook or Twitter.

The start and finish points will again be at the Woolmer Hill Sports Association Club House at Woolmer Hill. As well as free parking, we are able to provide changing facilities, showers, toilets and all the facilities associated with a modern clubhouse.
